LALITHAMBIKA ANTHARJANAM
|
Born in 1909 at Kottarakkara. Father: Damodaran Potty. Mother: Nangamma.
Lalithambika Antharjan was born in an aristocratic Brahmin (Namboothiri) family.
At that time, girls are not permitted to go to schools. Lalithambika was given
informal education in Sanskrit, Malayalam, English and Hindi at her home. Though
she did not get formal school education, Lalithambika Antharjanam was an
outstanding litterateur, who contributed more than 25 works as Novels, short
stories. Her stories taste salt of tears and sweet of breast milk. Agnisakshi,
Kunjomana and Gosai Paranja Kathakal are her important works. She has won
Vayalar award and Sahithya Academy Award. She passed away on February 6, 1987. |
LEELA.P

Born in 1935 at Chittoor, Palakkad District. Father: E.K.Kunjan Menon. Mother:
Meenakshykutty Amma. P.Leela was one of the vocal musicians of India who made a
name for herself by singing exquisite songs in mellifluous voice. Her
contribution to the devotional music is unforgettable. She was an eminent play
back singer. She started her studies of music from her early childhood. She sung
her first film song for the Tamil film Kanakam. She sung for more than 5000
songs in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Gujarathi, Bengali and Hindi. She
won the award for the best play back singer in 1969. In 1994, she was conferred
Kalaimani title by the Tamil Nadu Government. She died on October 30, 2005. |
LEKSHMY N.MENON

Born on 28 March 1899. Father: M.Ramavarma Thampan. Mother: Madhavi Kunjamma
Lekshmy N.Menon was always a proud of Kerala. She was an eminent personality who
wrote an epic in the political, diplomatic, education and cultural fields. She
was an embodiment of wisdom, maturity, idealism and dedication. She represented
India in the United Nations. She was the Parliamentary Secretary to Prime
Minister and later hold office of the Minister for External Affairs in Pandit
Nehru’s cabinet. She was also served as the Chairperson of All India Women’s
Corporation. She died in November 1982 |
LEKSHMY, CAPTAIN

Born in 1914. Mother: Ammu Swaminathan. Father: Dr.Swaminathan. Captain Lekshmy
was a prominent freedom fighter. She joined Indian National Army (INA) of
Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and Netaji nominated here as the Commander of the
Women Regiment of INA. She treated the victims of war field in the II World War.
She won worldwide acclaim through her dedicated service to the nation. She was
also the cabinet member of Netaji’s temporary government formed in 1943. She
contested for the Presidents election in the year 2004 against Sri.A.P.J.Abdul
Kalam, but defeated. |
