The Reddiar are migrants from Tamil Nadu. They are mainly concentrated in Kollam District. They are non-vegetarians. They maintain nuclear family.  and followers of vishnavite tradition. Traditionally they are businessmen.

They observe pre-delivery rite known as masakka in the seventh month of pregnancy. Naming ceremony is held on the 28th day of birth along with irupathyettukettu. Choroonu is done on sixth month. They observe therandukalyanam. Marriage is held at the bride’s residence. Ponnurukku (preparation of golden thali), pandalnattu (erecting central pillar of marriage pandal), kappukettu, tying of thali (mangalyasuthra) etc. are the main rituals connected with marriage. They cremate their dead. Death pollution (Pula) is for 16 days
