‘Jogi” means saint. The Jogis reside in Kasargode District.  They are also known as Yogi.  Locally they are also called Choyikurikkal. They are nomadic people.  They speak Malayalam and Kannada.   and classified under Other Backward Class in Kerala. 

They observe birth pollution for seven to fourteen days.  On fourteenth day they held naming ceremony. They also observe puberty rites.  Marriage is taken place at bride’s residence. The bridegroom ties bottu (thali) around the neck of bride. They bury their dead.  Death pollution is observed for 12 days.
