YADAVA

In Kerala Yadava are known as Maniyani, Erumakkar etc. They believe that they are the descendants of Lord Krishna. They were brought to Kerala by the British garrison during their regime in Malabar for the supply of milk to their contingent. Cattle tending was their traditional occupation. They are residing in the erstwhile Malabar region, which is comprised of Kasargode, Kannur, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Palakkad Districts. They speak and write Malayalam. They maintain nuclear type of families. Their main occupation is cattle rearing and selling of milk and milk products. .
