The Odan are residing in Palakkad and Thrissur districts.  They belong to Other Backward Classes. Their mother tongue is Malayalam. Their traditional occupation is pottery. They are engaged as agricultural labourers, daily wage labourers etc. They follow Hinduism.

They impose a postnatal restriction for 56 days. They celebrate choroonu, naming ceremony etc. They observe puberty rite when girls attain first menarche.  Marriage rituals are performed in bride’s residence and thali is the symbol of marriage.  They bury their dead and Death pollution (Pula) lasts for 11 days.
